“My 2 best friends and I met up for our Christmas dinner a couple of weeks ago (we’ve been best friends for over 25 years). I was explaining the sort of photographer we were looking for and she whipped out her phone and gave me your details. She had them as she was so impressed with your work and how friendly and approachable you were on the day of her friends wedding (especially with children) that she’s planning on booking some family shots with you this year. That along with the way you’ve written your website was worth its weight in gold for me and I’m so excited and happy that we get to book you. There will be quite a few children on the day, so your style of documentary photography will be perfect. Both Marc and I really do appreciate the hard work and the associated/hidden costs, time and effort that go into the work you do. Marc’s business includes sports events (triathlons, open swims, endurance running etc) so we know first hand what goes on behind the scenes. We really do think you’ll be worth every penny you’re asking for (and probably then some). Thank you for agreeing to help on such a special day for us. We really hope you enjoy the day and promise we’ll look after you”
I knew that we were going to get on instantly, and we did. Natasha, Marc and their amazing friends and family were so much fun and, as you will see, it was non stop laughter all day. Marc’s company runs the Lakeland 50/100 endurance race around the Lake District where you have to cover either 50 miles in 24 hours or 100 miles in 48 hours. As such, it as only fitting that the wedding morning started with a modest 4 mile race (which Marc won!) ending with an epic waterslide with a bacon buttie barbecue as reward. It was so much fun and I was almost taken out twice by very enthusiastic sliders! It totally set the tone of the wedding, which was all about having fun!
The rest of the wedding morning was just brilliant and loads of fun was had with Natasha + Marc’s two amazing little girls, Cora and Elsie. They even “helped” apply their Mummy’s make-up! There were two firsts for me. Firstly, I’ve never seen a make up artist apply eyeliner with two little ladies sat on a bride’s knee so well done Kerry Baker! Secondly, I’ve never held one of my couples little ones and taken a selfie with my “big camera” as they are just not built for it so keep your eyes peeled for that one!
The day was just perfect with a real family feel. Natasha and Marc had put so much effort into their day from the most beautiful flowers to an array of childrens’ entertainment, which also proved to be a massive hit with the adults! Marc also hired a Ceilidh band which was the best fun ever, I would highly recommend them as it got everyone up joining in with gusto!
Natasha + Marc have such a gorgeous connection and how they looked at each other throughout the day really melted me. Just before I left Marc surprised Natasha by singing “She’s Always a Women” to her. Just the perfect end to a perfect day. I had the best time and it was the biggest honour to get to document this day and meet such truly wonderful people. Massive congratulations!
“Rachel, Marc and I are blown away by these. We absolutely love them. You know how talented we think you are, but I really want to shout it from the rooftops!! I know I’ll look at these photos a squillion times. Not just today or tomorrow, but years and years (and hopefully) years from now. You’ve captured some amazing moments and shots of people who we love which we get to keep forever thanks to you. You Mrs Ryan are a Wonder Woman through and through!! Xxx”
