“I was so honoured to share a special time with Rachel during our bump shoot in Liverpool. Rachel is an amazing creative photographer who puts you at ease and makes you laugh. My favourite images are the silhouette shots – very clever and showed bump in its full glory. Thank you Rachel – hope your free for when bump arrives”
Lou and I first met in 1997 in the student accommodation office of Staffordshire University. Our Mums decided that we each looked semi normal and that we were going to look at houses to share together. The rest is history! We lived together for 3 years, with Monica and Heather, and we had some adventures. There was a pink fleece, Stella Artois, Red Witches, exceptionally short skirts and the Spice Girls. And a whole heap of other stuff that shall remain private!
It makes no difference how much time passes, whenever we get together nothing changes. She laughs at me because I still have no sense of direction and I remember that her foot instep is freakishly high! It was brilliant catching up with her and her lovely man, Andy, and their beautiful 30 week bump. I am so excited for them, they are going to be incredible parents.
I’ll be honest, I am not a fan of about 95% of maternity photography that I see. Styling and posing pregnant ladies in a way that you would never style or pose a non pregnant woman, to me, makes no sense. So my maternity photography is just normal documentary portrait photography that just happens to feature a gorgeous little baby bump. Simple!
Lou is a city girl (she used to hold my hand to cross road for the entire 3 years of uni!) so it was only fitting we had a city shoot. We went to Liverpool Central Library, which has the most incredible interior the city has to offer, and St John’s gardens which I adore.
Little baby, I can’t wait to meet you!
