“I am a graphic designer so work with images and photos every day – I knew exactly what I wanted (Darrell trusted my judgement on this one, and what a fab judgement it was….. Even if I do say so myself ha). I researched for weeks and weeks! I knew I wanted a documentary style photographer with a relaxed feel, no crazy filters of Photoshop effects. Having been a bridesmaid 5 times I also wanted a female photographer as they are so more understanding of how you’re feeling – takes one to know one and all that jazz. When I found Rachel’s website I loved everything about her photos from the colours and angles to the natural styling and relaxed ‘models’. Her black and white photos also stood out massively. From the quality of her photos I couldn’t believe we could get her in our budget, she was far and above anything we had seen. From Rachel’s first email I really felt at ease – she oozes positivity and obviously LOVES weddings and her job. I can’t put into words how happy we are with the photos and service we have received!!”
Jane and Darrell were married a few weeks ago at The Ashes, Endon in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside. It was a real trip down memory lane for me as I went to university in Staffordshire (and it turned out that the registrar and I were on the same law degree course!). It’s not hard to see why The Ashes has been so successful at the Wedding Industry Awards over the last 3 years. It is a beautiful converted barn in idyllic surroundings with fantastic staff to tend to your every need. A special thanks to Jayne for being fab!
Jane is an incredibly talented graphic designer and it showed! The wedding details were planned down to the last detail with Jane designing and making all of the invites, favours, straws and signs. These little touches made their wedding really stand out. I think you’ll also see I was a touch obsessed with the light up “love” sign!
However, what really stood out was what lovely, kind and welcoming people Jane and Darrell are. They spent the night before the wedding with their friends at the local pub and the wedding morning was so incredibly chilled, despite the wedding rings going astray three times! Eventually they were placed on the “shelf of importance” for safe keeping. It did make us laugh that mid service when flower girl, Ava, was asked if she had the rings she was brutally honest that she didn’t! Cue Jane’s sister to sprint to the shelf in record time to get them!
One of my favourite parts of the day were Jane and her bridesmaids having a trial run in their pyjamas and promptly legging it when they realised Darrell had arrived at the venue a bit earlier than planned. The bridesmaids were girls after my own heart and there was a cosy blanket to hand at all times!
Jane and Darrell are such a gorgeous couple. They both light up when they’re around each other and the constant beam on their faces all day long were proof of that. They were such good fun and I loved that their only request for their portraits was having “one with the cow!” Thank you so much for choosing me to photograph your amazing wedding. You, your friends and family were a complete joy!
